the basketball diaries (1995)

the basketball diaries tells the true story about jim carroll, who was on a basketball team at a private catholic school. jim enjoys jacking off on rooftops and doing drugs with his friends. he snorts coke before practice and gets down with girls. at first you think, damn jim, you're a pretty cool but he starts doing heroin. *sad face* don't worry, this film has a great ending. possibly one of the best stories about drug addiction. it features a young leonardo dicaprio AND MARKY MARK!!!

fucked up film: dogtooth (2009)

dogtooth is about a husband and wife who keep their kids imprisoned in their house. they don't know anything about the outside world. the only way they can leave is if they lose a dogtooth. the ending leaves you thinking "really? thats's it?". its kind of depressing really. there's a couple of sex scene w/ incest involved. according to imdb, this movie is a black comedy but i didn't find myself laughing when the younger sister was going down on the older sister.

also the boy in the film looks like sonic boom. so in the first scene, i felt like i was watching sonic boom having sex. :/

fucked up film: possession (1981)

i really don't know where to start on this film. i first thought this movie was about exorcism but it wasn't. it's about a married couple who are going through some problems. first off the wife left the family for no reason. mark, the husband played by dr. alan grant, assumes that she is sleeping with someone else. which is true. he gets really mad and starts hitting her. even though he is pissed, he still has a lot of feelings for her. the movie gets even more strange when he hires a detective to find where she is staying and she ends up killing him. it's all very surreal and strange but it's great.

fucked up film: enter the void (2009)

enter the void is the third film by the fucked up director gaspar noe. i don't mean that in a bad way. he's amazing. the last movie he made was irreversible which is by far one of the most fucked up films i've ever seen and again i don't mean that in a bad way. it's one of those movies you need to see once and that's it. enter the void on the other hand, you could watch this over and over if you wanted to.

i don't feel like explaining what the movie was about but it deals with drugs and the afterlife. the film is mostly shot in first person so you feel like you're experiencing what the main character is going through. the reason why i labeled this as fucked up is because there's a lot of sex scenes, crazy drug hallucinations, and a dead fetus.

enron: the smartest guys in the room (2005)

we've heard it all before. big company from houston gets busted for accounting fraud. ruins the lives of 29,000 employees. if you ever find yourself browsing on the wikipedia article of the enron scandal, watch this documentary instead. its kinda long like almost 2 hours long but its worth watching. it's like a horror film really. i watched it on a stormy night and it kinda freaked me out. maybe i'll get nightmares of enron ceos and traders. also, i was almost going to label this a fucked up film but i don't think it lives up to the fucked up film standards (i.e. sex and violence).

leon: the professional (1994)

pretty good movie. i liked it all the way up till they started playing a sting song at the credits. anyway, the story is about a professional assassin named leon who takes girl care of a young girl named mathilda played by natalie portman. her parents and her siblings were killed by corrupt dea agents. she becomes very close to leon. to the point where its kind of uncomfortable. like to catch a predator uncomfortable. let me make this clear, they don't do anything sexual. they're just very close...but there is still a sense of sexual tension. besides that, i enjoyed it a lot.

the shape of things (2003)

a fun depressing film that will either make you mad or make you cry. for me, it was both but hey it hurts seeing paul rudd getting the heart ripped out of him (not literally).
